Who is Loose Rooster?
Basically, Loose Rooster is me, Mark Esslinger. I've always been a food guy. I can remember cooking supper standing on a kitchen stool while my mom was working on her Master's Degree at night.
One day while working at a music store, I was reading the local newspaper's police blotter when I saw it: "Loose rooster- handled by officer." I've held onto that for over 30 years.
The idea to sell spices was a little more complicated. I got tired of the price of my favorite chili fixings just kept getting more and more expensive, so I just set to making it myself. Taco was an easy number 2. One weekend it was my turn to cook for the adults at the monthly Boy Scout campout, so I made chili smothered burritos. Someone made the comment, "You could sell this stuff," and here we are.
But we are really talking about Loose Rooster LLC, and that includes my lovely fiance, Marcy. She's my CFO trying to keep me from buying everything.
But I can't ignore the elephant in my room: I'm completely disabled. I broke my neck (incomplete break, thank goodness), but I can maneuver. Some days are worse that others. Marcy is my disabled veteran from the Army. Somedays we are quite the griping pair. Most it's just me whining.
